The Time is Now

The past does not create your future. The past created your present. The present creates your future, so right now is the best time to change. You cannot go back and do the workouts you skipped. You cannot go back and standup to the person who made you feel small, but you can decide right now that you will no longer let that limitation hold you back. You can decide today that you will move your body every day in a way that makes you happy. You can decide today to have confidence and stop living small. You can truly change your future life right this very minute. If you don’t like your current situation, then it’s up to you to change it now so you won’t continue to suffer in the future.

Change can take time. We don’t just wake up one day and feel confident. We don’t wake up and notice our abs firmed themselves overnight without any effort. If there is something you want to change, are you willing to start doing the work right now? If not, then don’t complain about your current situation. You can choose to let your current situation motivate a change, or you can choose to make peace with it until you are ready to change. Many people who make resolutions, make the same resolution year after year because they don’t actually take the action to create change during the previous year. If you are not comfortable taking big steps to change, then start with the small ones. If you want to lose weight (probably one of the most popular resolutions), but you know that you won’t make time to move/exercise or can’t seem to make any diet changes, could you commit to at least learning to love yourself as you are? A happier person is more likely to attract positive change into their life. So decide today if you are willing to take a big action, take a little action, or simply make peace with where you are.

Living in a constant cycle of complaint and displeasure just guarantees you will continue to stay unhappy. Decide today that you will make peace with where you are. Is it perfect? Nope. Will it get better if you just keep thinking about it? Nope. Could it get better if you accept it as it is? Maybe. Could it get better if you learn to love where you are now and accept the challenges as a learning opportunity? Absolutely! Changing your thinking costs you nothing and can happen right now. Can you add a mantra to your daily routine? Can you journal all your feelings out until you get to a point of neutral or maybe a little positive about where you are? Figure out what it will take you to get a little bit happier about who and where you are right now. If you are ready to take some action, then write out a plan. You are far more likely to take action if you write it down. You are even more likely to take action if you find an accountability partner or share your action with others. Without a plan, a resolution is just a wish. You don’t have to know every step of the plan, but you have to start with the first few steps to move in that new direction.

Will you be taking action today or learning to love what is? Start by believing “I am enough” and that will make room for change and action. Sitting back and choosing to be unhappy is also a choice, but let’s use the new year to keep moving in a more positive direction. Need help- I’m here for you! Let me know what you are working on changing or accepting in 2021.
