You Don’t Give a Sh**

You either give a shit, or you don’t. You can say something is important to you, but if you aren’t making time for it, then it’s not really that important. When things really matter, you will make them a priority. Time is a finite commodity. You only get 24hrs, no more, no less, and everyone gets the same amount each day. Our number of days however will vary and can be greatly affected by how we choose to spend our time. So, if you are not making your health a priority, then you are likely limiting your number of days.

You can give me all the excuses in the world about why you don’t have time to exercise, but in this day and age I would hope everyone agrees that physical activity is necessary for basic wellbeing. I don’t think everyone should be running marathons or joining CrossFit gyms, but simply moving for at least 30 min a day is the best gift you can give your health. It’s the single best habit that I have added to my lifestyle.

Barriers to exercise- I don’t know what to do, I don’t have time, I can’t afford it, I don’t feel good, I don’t give a shit. All of these are excuses. It’s time to make yourself a priority. You only get one body. In this day and age if you can make it a priority to find 30 min a day, you can find any number of resources to show you how to move- YouTube, apps, gyms, or simply just take a walk. Oh it’s too cold or hot outside? Try marching in place while binging some show on Netflix, or shaking your butt to your favorite jams from high school. It’s truly not complicated!

I promise you that if you make a commitment to 30 min a day, your life will change for the better! If you have to start with just 5-10 min, good job starting! Over time your body will thank you and you will feel like doing more- that walk might turn into a yoga class, that 30 min online workout might make you crave trying a 45 min workout. This is the time of year that people try to make extreme commitments to change that might be out of reach for them, so instead just commit to 30 min every day. You can do this! You will get better. You deserve to feel good and make yourself a priority.

It’s time to give a shit, because you are an example to others! Give yourself the gift of health this year. Challenge yourself to be better this year. Miracles come from making a commitment to yourself. Find a buddy to be your accountability partner. Use a calendar to track your success. Need help? Reach out to me. I am ready to cheer you on to success!
